This season is full. Full of sad times, busy times and some great memories made. One thing I truly enjoy is to cook. It is in my blood. My Mawmaw is an amazing cook who then taught my mom who inspired me to cook. All three of us...well I should say four because my sister is amazing too....cook different in many ways but the same in others. It is just the joy of creating. For me I find so much joy in finding new tastes and beautiful dishes. I also find joy in old fashioned cookin. This one all started when we had moved to Indianapolis. It was the first time ever I didn't have a job. I was 7 months pregnant in a new town/state and didn't know anyone. As many of you know I rarely can sit still. I need to be productive.....and this came to mind. Why not create delicious jellies and jams.. Not only is it super cost effective. It is a fun gift to give and a great way to make healthier options for my kiddos. So...can away. Here is this summers first bunch...and I am sure there will be...
Day 1 The Lord has pressed on my heart for months...encouraging me to write, so today I begin to share with you...whoever you are, stories that we may never have shared. Before I dive into the depths I want to explain a few things that may help you understand why much of this was never shared. Some of the reasons I personally held back stories were; being a first time "oversees missionary" I allowed the idea that our lives had to look a certain way. Every struggle I should be praisin Jesus right through it, no problemo. A perfect family that ALL wanted to leave everything and everyone and live in a third world country. Someone who had no needs, because of course...we gave up almost everything...we shouldn't want anything! And the list of what I thought everyone thought we should be like went on and on.... Some of the other major reasons I didn't share much, was the struggle with what was good to share, that wouldn't damage the already damaged country of Hai...
Here are some fun pictures from the last month at home and others. You'll also see some pictures from our trip to Denver to see Aaron's mum get sworn in as a US Citizen! It was a blast and the kids loved seeing Nanny and yelling her name across the autitorium. We had so much fun hangin with Aaron's brother and his wife and kiddos...Malachi and Rachel love them. And then you'll see some sweet photo's of our newest close friends, our neighbors Tyler, Erin and their son Tanner who we get to have over off and on and went to his 3rd birthday party. Well, Malachi and I went alone to Tanner's party! You'll also see our fun day of crafts making Valentines cards for daddy...and Uncle Brian. We had cousin Avery and Auntie Rachel over and the kids had a blast painting and doing stickers, stamps and crayons!! Here's Nanny getting sworn in! Who doesn't love wearing mommie's clothes and daddy's shoes?? Here's Tanner when he came over one of the day...
